Studies of Dancers: Moving from Experience to Interaction Design

Lian Loke is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Software, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) and a researcher in the centre for Human Centred Technology Design. Her research is interdisciplinary and spans human-computer interaction, design and artistic practice, with the body as a central focus. Her research has investigated the emerging field of movement-based interaction design and the intersections with dance, performance and somatic practices. Current projects, funded by the Australia Council for the Arts, include the Thinking Through The Body ensemble (http://thinkingthroughthebody.net), exploring aesthetic experience, interactive art and somatic bodywork and research into wearable technologies for costume and performance.
Toni Robertson

Toni Robertson is Associate Professor in Human-Computer Interaction in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). Her research has focused on understanding and designing the interaction between people, their activities and technology, and the issues surrounding the use of technology in actual work and social settings. She is a specialist in the application of qualitative and participatory research and design methods and the use of phenomenological perspectives to understand actual human experience of technology use. She established and leads the Interaction Design and Human Practice Lab and initiated and co-directs the UTS Human Centred Technology Design Research Strength.
